Old 97's Editorial Review

In Short
A raucous blend of old-school country, power-pop and muscular punk has made the Old 97's alt-country favorites with a national following. The Dallas-bred band traded in its rustic roots for pop polish (see the catchy "King of All the World" from 2001's "Satellite Rides") but sounds a bit rawer on 2004's "Drag It Up." The twang may have faded, but singer Rhett Miller and band continue to build a catalog of smartly crafted gems.
