Nice clean bar to relax and have a drink or meet new people.. Cozy, classy, clean, hip bar. Good service, decent drinks. Younger crowd. Busy or slow it's a good place for a relaxing time and a good drink. Good music and/or DJ's. When the crowd arrives it's busy and cramped and a good time to meet and mingle. At the time of writing this review I've been a bartender for 7 years and I like the place. I don't bartend here or know the bartenders personally. I do have to say a quick thing about bar etiquette, based on other reviews, (sorry). Indeed every night's situation is different. If a bartender isn't polite when closing the bar, that's unprofessional. But also consider, some or all the customers are intoxicated and sometimes requests to exit the bar are ignored which means the bartender must become ever more firm in order to empty and close the bar -there are serious fines and legal consequences otherwise. Everyone understandably wants their drink as fast as possible, NO ONE likes waiting. Credit cards and tabs, rather than cash, considerably slow the process down. So on a busy night, do yourself, your fellow bar mates, and the bartenders a favor by paying in cash or by leaving your credit card open until you've bought your last drink. If you're afraid you're going to forget your credit card, then just pay in cash. When it's slow this all shouldn't be as much a concern. Lastly, its the law that a bartender verify that each drink ordered is going to a customer of legal age. When the bartender ID's you, take it as a compliment that you look youthful, it's also a sign that he/she is a professional who looking out for you and the other patrons. In a worst case scenario, if a sting is in effect and the bartender serves a minor, everyone in the bar could find themselves being questioned and maybe searched by the police, everyone's drinks are taken from them, and the bar is closed on the spot and everyone is forced to leave immediately! Now that'll ruin your mellow! A good bartender will try to look out for everyone's best interest. Help out the good bartenders and they'll recognize it and help you out. Now enjoy your drink.

Worst customer service ever. This bar has nice ambiance and decent drink menu, but it really takes the prize for the worst customer service ever. We stopped by this place on Saturday, and we were literally kicked out by the bartender. He was rude to the customers and around 11:00pm he told everyone to clear out of the place (the bar?s working hours on Saturday are 6pm to 2am). His exact words were "clear the place.. I got other places to be at?". Avoid this bar.

good ambiance; poor customer service. i love the ambiance at this bar - dim lighting, fireplace, intimate table/couch seating. however, when i went there this past saturday, i was shocked at the bartender's request to actually see and card every person i was buying drinks for. i had never had this experience before. since when was it a crime to buy drinks for your friends, without having to pull them out of the bathroom? i proceeded to buy the drinks and close up my tab. i was taken aback again when the bartender said i could only run my credit card ONE time during the night, so if i closed my tab, i couldn't re-open it that night. this was, in my opinion, HORRIBLE service. I won't be going back.

Marina posers go back to the Vanilla Kingdom. We were there for 5 mins to meet friends. And it's a great place to see the frat boys and the gold diggers outside of their element; you'd think that they've gone all the way to the Mission to party the way all three of the patrons were acting. And this was at 9:30PM! This place is dead. Don't waste your time.

Slice of love on the corner!. Lived here 5 years and drove by several times wondering..."what is this place"? Well, we stopped in one early Friday evening in December to find out. We walked up the stairs, noticed a cute little patio with heatlamps, walked in and were warmly greeted by the bartender who offered us to help ourselves to a nice cheese plate to go with our champagne. We sat by the modern fire, making our way through a couple rounds as the evening crowds came in, the DJ melodically increasing tempo and volume. If we were up for more partying, we would have stayed to join the growing crowd (mostly mid 20's-30's) but we opted to continue on with dinner (at Sociale, of course!).
