From pipes and tie-dyes to gargoyles and bondage gear, the center of Flower Power still has it all..
In Short
Haight Street: crowded, colorful, celebrated and vilified. Most locals love it or hate it, and it's easy to understand why. Stretching for six blocks, Upper Haight offers not only great shops but also a crash course in teen culture and modern sociology. If you're on a serious shopping mission, head to a more like-minded destination. If you're looking for eye candy, inspiration and unusual offerings, this is your place.
"Dope" Shopping. Originally from San Diego...and I must say, Haight was an experience.. had a great time shopping. Villans was the best in both shoes, denim, & skate wear! Atmosphere is one that should not be taken for granted!! All you SF locals appreciate what you have goin on there... music & arts are alive and kickin! Very rich in culture and diversity. Embrace it!
I prefer the southbay.... I know the city is nice and all, but if it's shopping we are talking about, it's got to be at Valley Fair in Santa Clara...that mall is just the best...it has everything! It's so nice to walk through there and it takes hours to complete the whole mall for those who are serious shoppers.
find funky shoes and second-hand stuff. I like shoe shopping here as they have a little more original funky styles. They also have little boutiques here that have cool stuff and it's not outragesly expensive. You can find second-hand clothes here at a couple of places, but they are a bit pricey. Don't come here shopping for office clothes. The record store Amoeba is awesome, good selection and prices for used stuff.
You don't know what your missing!. There are still some misconceptions about Haight street. There are some anoying people on the street but- It's a great place to shop. Jaxx is the best women's clothing store in S.F-fun, unique and upscale. Villians has a really good denim selection, & Shoe Biz has fun sexy shoes. Try Happy Trails for the best funky novelty and gift items and stop by Zare for lunch-eat indoors or on their outside patio. Don't pass this steet up because you've heard some uptight person say it's not a good neighborhood-THEY have probably never been there!
Love and Haight. NY Apparel, Dal Jeets, Askew, Kam Zaman, Planetweavers, just to name a few.
