The experience was amazing. The staff was excellent, the location was perfect. I highly recommended this restaurant to everyone.
Too crowded, love the mission district, we were pleasantly surprised by the food because it could be hit or miss. The cocktails were excellent, on the pricy side though, Be back? yes defiantly.
Perfect For dessert.
Last night was my 2nd time to Luna Park. Both times were for dessert, as it stays open pretty late.
We had the apple-huckleberry tart. No tiny french dessert here...this was a HUGE homemade pie big enough to fill us both up and covered with ice cream. Every bit of it was delicious.
I wanted to try the s'mores with home-made graham crackers, but the marshmallows were jet-puff. My friend doesn't go gelatin and I don't do HFCS, so we opted not to. Still, really cool that they make their own graham crackers.
The service was also great, and we were seated right away. Maybe I'll get around to trying the dinners some day...
Yummmm & funnnn!.
I hadn't been to LP in a while so was excited when a friend chose this restaurant for his bday dinner. Everything was really delicious from the apps, mains and of course the desserts!!! (I am still salavating over the bananas fosters!) I
Drinks: I highly reccommend starting with a few mojitos--they are strong, sweet & come with some fun plastic animal decorations hanging on the rim of your glass. Since it was a special occasion we started with a flaming scorpion bowl which looks great but tastes like straight 151. (If you want a scorpion bowl i'd say go to trad'r sams-waaay better.) We also had a few bottles of the Benton Lane Pinot (suuuper smooth). (Yes-we like to drink :)
Now on to the good stuff...
Apps: Fondue (solid), Tuna Poke (my fave--wish the wonton chips were a bit bigger, but just ended up diving into the poke w/ my fork), carnival dogs (didn't try but the guys loved them--only 3 served so hard to share if you're in a group)
Mains: Chicken w/ chedder jalepeno grits & roasted veggies (my dish-sooo flavorful, think it was marinated & grilled in beer--can't recall & not on their website's menu), Risotto w/ shrimp (creamy goodness), Lazy Man's Cioppino (fresh & chunky fish w/ a spicy kick), Breaded Pork Cutlet (bday boy's choice & he gets it every time so it must be good). Also got the side of mac-n-cheese with broccoli (mmmmm!) to share
Desserts (no matter how full you are, you HAVE to get some!): BANANAS FOSTER w/ banana ice cream (UNreal) , S'mores (the homemade graham crackers are as good it gets)
Fun (albeit loud) atmosphere and solid service. Definitely want to go back again soon!
Sooo tasty food.
Luna Park... a nice place to have lunch or dinner. I visited this place a few days back with my wife (newly wedded). We had a plan for dinner at Luna Park, because it is very close to our place. When we reach there we got stuck to see there was no parking. A waiter told me that parking was in the garage. So, I searched that but again same problem it was full with car and other vehicle. I was moving here and there to see if I could get some place over there to park my car.
After a long a time when I could not got it then we decide to go back home without dinner. I suggest my wife to go for another one but she was insisting to have dinner only Luna Park or go back home.
We came back home and I got very upset. My wife called Luna Park and Ordered dinner. We got our delivery after 2 hours of our order.
We both had our dinner.... and Oh ! ! What a food ! ! Excellent ! !
I forgot my all angry, I thought to give 1 star to this place because of it made me angry and tired. But after having its food I am giving 4 star.
Not cool. They add a healthcare surcharge onto your bill along with a note saying that they are proud to provide healthcare to their workers. I think that's great. What they don't tell you is that they are actually suing the city over the new universal healthcare program. I hate to think that they are using my money to take away people's health care .
Date place or Girl's night, come here!. The thing I love about Luna Park is its versatility, as it doubles as a somewhat intimate, dimly lit restaurant ideal for a date as well as a classier bar to visit with a few girlfriends. This place feels lush; and it's not just the velvet cutains. The food is reasonably priced and well-seasoned, but my favorite part was the dessert: even though the s'mores were messy they provide a good laugh, and the apple pie was divine. Service isn't the quickest, but it's to be expected on a busy night.
BAD FOOD. I went here about a year ago and was not impressed. A friend recently insisted that we go here. It was just as bad two weeks ago as it was last year. Cheap ingedients equals cheap tasting food. My spinach salad had feta the consistency of a sponge and dressing that tasted worse than vegetable oil. My grilled artichoke was smaller than an apricot and was also drenched in a vegetable oil like substance. How this place is able to survive in a foodies neighborhood is beyond me!
Decent place to eat. This is place isn't too bad if you want a pretty safe bet for a romantic dinner. It's become a little too packed for my taste...
