Macys. Yes...its's true you can find almost anything you need at this place but I do have to say that I just can't deal with the long lines and the lack of light inside the store..I do feel suffocated there and I think I'm gonna have to pass next time someone wants to go in there. It's a pity though...really good deals there

I love this store.. I love this store.  I know it's big and impersonal and impossible to get someone to help you.  And when they do, they have an attitude!  But to me it's truly an SF experience.  Whenever I pay a visit to Union Square, I stop in the men's store - awesome, awesome selection - and almost always put something on my credit card.  It really is one of the best men's stores in SF because it's larger and has a greater selection than anywhere else.  I rarely have any business in the big store, but always find an excuse to walk through it before going home.

Spring Shoe Event makes Fabulous Girls' Night Out. The Spring Shoe Fashion show held on 3/27/2008 was a fabulous girls' night out event! Great wines and desserts while viewing all the latest styles. The models were very personable and knew where to stand so that all could view the latest fashions. Those who paused at each of the platforms were most appreciated, as all who sat or stood could view from any angle. Nice, personable ladies to speak wiht after the event, as well. The only things that could have been improved would have been better hors d'oevres, instead of desserts alone, and all the models using the ideal viewing angles of their shoes. Great job, Macy's San Francisco!

Great customer service. My friend and I went to the busy Macy's make-up dept (Clinique) to purchase 1 or 2 items. We asked if there were any promotional "free gift with purchase". The nice employee explained that their next promotion would begin in about 3 weeks but she would check to see if there were any leftovers from the previous promotion. My friend's purchases qualified for the free gift but mine did not. However, the employee was kind enough to give me one--without any attitude as she handed it to me.

Estee Lauder at Macy's a disappointment. To be frank, I've never been a big fan of Macy's compared to Nordstrom, where customer service is a priority among associates. My grandmother and I went to Macy's Estee Lauder counter about two weeks ago to pre-order some cosmetics for pick-up today so we could benefit from Estee Lauder's "Gift Time" promotion. The two of us returned there this afternoon and were very disappointed by the associates' general unhelpfulness and inefficiency to take care of customers. In addition to us, there were several other ladies also at the counter to pick-up their pre-ordered cosmetics, and it seems we were all very dissatisfied with poor, slow, and inattentive service by the Estee Lauder staff, who focused most, if not all, of their effort on selling products to prospective walk-in clients. My grandmother and I waited for about five minutes before someone helped us-- this was after we had already been "helped" by a lady behind the counter, instructing us to wait at a station where someone else would assist us. After waiting far longer than necessary, a staff member inadvertently checked to see if we had already been helped-- she was not responsible for manning the station we were sent to, but rather passing by while, presumably, helping others. It took nearly another ten minutes before she returned with our, as well as another customer's, items. Meanwhile, I overheard another disgruntled customer complain to another E.L. staff that she had been standing and waiting for over ten minutes, while the woman beside us complained that she was on her lunch break and didn't have time to waste waiting for the E.L. folks to work efficiently. I don't recommend the Estee Lauder folks at this Macy's location-- they were, in general, unhelpful and incompetent in filling customer needs.
