You'll definitely meet funny people!.
How could you not love this place? I too have experienced the bartender losing my card after watching him put it in his pocket. But the good times we've had here over the years have been worth the wait of the new card to arrive in the mail!! If your looking for a good dive bar to get a little loud and crazy, this is it. If your well mannered and behaved, perhaps you might want to look for a different bar to pass the time.

Old school bar with a drunken bartender.
My wife and I went to La Rocca's Corner Tavern to watch an NBA playoff game. We were there for about 2 hours and when I went to close out my tab the bartender didn't remember taking my credit card. He basically called me a liar and said that I never gave it to him. I had to call and cancel my card. When I asked the credit card company about the last purchase on the card, not surprising to me, it was at the bar. Basically, the bartender was so drunk he must have given my credit card to someone else by mistake. Can't say that I've ever had that happen before.

Be careful.
If you're a tourist, be really very careful there... Some of the bartenders are not really "balanced"... A friend of mine experienced a very bad evening there, with one of them.

A keystone North Beach drinking establishment with more than 80 years of hazy history..
In Short
A sign on the window of this corner bar encourages patrons to "Drink with Dignity," which is what North Beach native Joe DiMaggio used to do here when he was in town. Many local legends have revolved around the unassuming locale--shaped like a brightly lit triangle with large windows--including a much-publicized mafia hit that took place in the basement in the late '40s. These days it's simply a good, friendly spot for tourists and locals alike to hide out with a cheap beer, cocktail or cappuccino.
