Cozy beach diner
by howdo2usf
Loved the name and the location. Probably a great place to meet friends on a Friday night. Had a cheeseburger, tasted greasy. Would give it another chance though.
- Pros: Love the atmosphere and location
- Cons: greasy tasting burger
Great food, nice Jazz
by kunoschedler
Last weekend, we had dinner with two families (5 adults, 5 small kids) at the Sand Dollar. It is not an easy task to get such a crowd together, and we had to wait for a table although we had made a reservation. But the staff were friendly, and above all, food was just great (although the kids menues were as unhealthy and uninspired as nearly anywhere else).
We had
Crispy Mushroom Parmesan Polenta Cake for $14.-, which was a perfect dish, recommendable to anyone who likes trying new tastes (5*);
Country Fried Chicken for $16.-, which was nice and spicy, but the grill would have done better than the pan (3*);
Local Wild Salmon for $24.-, which was a bit fat (3*);
Petit Steak Fries for $18.-, superb, a really good buy (5*).
House wine was very good, and there was a Jazz Duet playing really nice.
- Pros: special dishes; Jazz
- Cons: seating after reservation
THE Stinson Beach Classic
by michaelsinssanfrancisco
The Sand Dollar to Stinson is like Taddich's to San Francisco... It is THE institution to it's town. They're raw oysters are always the freshest, their prime NY steak is always the juiciest, their margaritas are packed with real lime citrus and high end tequila, their staff is warm and friendly and the decor to the restaurant is done really well. The Sand Dollar is the only place to have a drink or eat when you're in Stinson.
- Pros: Service, Ambiance
