Editorial Review for Olema Ranch Campground – by Stephanie Rosenbaum

The Scene
Going exploring around Point Reyes? This spacious, shady and well-run campground makes a great family-friendly base for exploring the breathtaking scenery of both the Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay State Park. Each tent site includes a fire pit, picnic table and potable water spigot; most are shaded by large oak and pine trees.

The Amenities
Olema Ranch has lots of amenities to make your stay in nature a little easier. A camp store is well stocked with firewood, groceries, basic camping supplies, toiletries, postcards, souvenirs and low-tech toys like kites and frisbees. The tidy bathrooms have sinks, hot showers and flush toilets. There's a coin laundromat, gas pump, post office and ATM, plus courts for horseshoes, shuffleboard, badminton and tetherball.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

The Point Reyes area is notorious for unpredictable weather, especially in summertime, when chill winds and fog can arrive without warning. Bring warm clothing, jackets, and good sleeping bags .

The Extras

Dogs are welcome. There is a dog run on the property; otherwise, dogs must be leashed at all times.

Olema Ranch Campground has everything a camper needs except for one thing, space!! When I first arrived at the campsite, I couldn't believe how close our neighbors were to each other. We were asked to turn down our music after an hour of arriving!! Other than that, Olema Ranch has everything a person needs, with great attractions close by.

Pros: clean bathrooms, large general store

Cons: close campsites
