Adequate Bar, Saw a Reggae Legend. Adequate place, although I was anticipating slightly more upscale for Marin Co. Maybe it's when I learned they had a Tiki Bar, I was expecting something like Trader Vic's or a nice tropical-themed bar, but this is just another small room that looks like it was put together with decorations from Party America, etc. Drink prices are OK--$4.25 for both domestic and import bottled beer and $6 and up for mixed drinks. They did have a couple of drink specials posted. There is an ATM machine in the bar that charges a reasonable $1.50 fee. I went on 10/19/07 to see Clinton Fearon (reggae), and he and his band sounded awesome. Place gets hotter than blazes, so dress appropriate. Helps that they have the outside covered patio. There is a strong police presence in downtown Fairfax, so be aware and mind your P's & Q's. There's a city-owned (?) parking median that fronts the bar, but you have to move your car before 2am or the police will start tagging and/or towing. Bartender started telling me an agreement with the police that lets you keep your car parked overnight if you're drunk and need to call a taxi (???!!!) Didn't quite understand the arrangement and it sounded a bit tedious to me, so I reached my limit and then sobered up before getting back in the car (as I live in Vallejo).

Live music and a tiki-bar sideroom highlight this Marin club.. In Short
Seven nights a week, this place books live bands--everything from reggae like Junior Reid to cover bands like Tainted Love. The multiroom venue has two fireplaces, a covered and heated outdoor smoking patio, and a tiki bar called Visegrip's. The walls' photos trace the history of this historic venue.
