Don't waste your time.. We drove into Tiberon, so excited to eat lunch... The wait at Sam's was 40 minutes, so my friend and I went to the Mexican restaurant Guaymas. It's no wonder they were wide open. . . the food was really bad. Horrible quality.. My friend's fajitas were impossible to chew.. IMPOSSIBLE. not edible. My chicken salad had cold, pre-made chicken salad on it... just awful. Expensive and not fulfilling. We should've waited 40 minutes for Sam's.
Burnt my lips off. I came here with my company after a meeting at the yacht club. The chips and guac were decent and the margaritas were ok. I had a shrimp taco and it was so spicy it numbed my lips. I had to put them on a water glass to calm them down. I really like spicy food but this was WAY too much. Also their rice just plain sucks.
Horrible Service.
We showed up here on our first evening in Tiburon ready to experience the awesomeness of Guyamas. We were pumped! Margaritas were supposedly phenomenal.
Unfortunately, we waited 35 minutest for a glass of water. This is after requesting a server come to our table. We ended up walking out after telling the manager about it.
Here's the thing...the server said: I get no support around here. Yes, unprofessional to tell us however, I must ask...what kind of support was he getting that no one could bring us water or chips and salsa? The manager may need to rething how he sets up his servers to succeed.
As a former server/bartender, I had some sympathy for the guy but he was terribly rude.
The manager offered to give us a free meal but after receiving the service we did, I didn't feel comfortable staying...
We were so dissapointed.
THE FOOD'S IS NOT GOOD ANYMORE. THE NEW CORPORATE OWNERS HAVE TURNED THIS FORMER GOURMET ESTABLISHMENT INTO THE RUN-OF-THE-MILL CHAIN-MEX MENU WITH BORING SELECTIONS AND POOR, INATTENTIVE SERVICE. SAVE YOUR MONEY. IT'S REALLY A SHAME BECAUSE FOR MANY YEARS IT WAS AMONG THE BEST DINING ESTABLISHMENTS IN THE BAY AREA. WHY NOT TRY CHEVY'S INSTEAD? IT'S CHEAPER AND THE SAME QUALITY.
Don't order tamales!. The tamales served to me were 90 percent corn meal. I expect better from an "Authentic" restaruant.
Great view- terrible food. A beautiful day in Tiburon spoiled by the worst Mexican food ever! We shared the appetizer combo. It was like someone took Pillsbury crescent rolls and stuffed them with cheese. The tamales tasted like they had dog food as the filling. Avoid this place - even the great view isn't worth it.
cold food, over charge. cold food , waiter was so nice , on of the manger was trying to rush us to leave , waiter over charges us for the soft drinks the bill was not cheap i spent almost $ 500.00 we were 13 of us , the place is over price
Great View and Food, Hostess Seating Service Poor.
We had a rough start here as after being sent upstairs by the hostess an 'upstairs hostess' asked if he 'had reservations...I wondered why she would ask us that if we were sent by up by downstairs hostess?? When we said no, she wanted to sit four of us and a 9 month old baby in a small 4-top table. The place was quiet and there were plenty of large tables . We asked for a larger table and she protested and then finally sat us at a 6 person round table. She claimed that 'someone was going to hurt her" for doing it. I guess we were special!
After that we did really enjoy the food ( the pork was fantastic) and you cannot beat the view of the water - excellent! The waiter was fine and we had a good meal.
Enjoy!
worth the drive. Coming from the East Bay the drive into Tiburon was well worth it, The food was excellent, and I have to say the previous reviews have not done this establishment justice, by any means. Everything about our experience was great. It was alittle drafty , but other then that a 4 star rating. Prompt service, and excellent food, I will definetly be returning .
A Nice Excursion from SF. I've been to Guaymas 3 times and was surprised when I just read all the negative reviews. I've had pretty consistently good food here and it's a great place to take out-of-towners (the ferry ride + the view makes for a nice little outing). I'm not going to say it's the best Mexican food I've ever had, but the tamales are very good (especially the pork ones) and the seafood and rice dishes are very tasty. And of course, I highly recommend the Guaymas margarita. The service could definitely use some improvement in terms of speed, but if you are going to Guaymas, you should go with a more relaxed mindset and not be in such a rush.
