I've had just about everything on the menu and I am amazed at all the flavor packed sushi and kitchen items they have available. Although the menu was overwhelming to look at at first because of how much they have to offer, I chose whatever sounded good at first and it was GREAT!!! Haven't been able to stop going since. I highly recomend it to first timers, you'll get hooked. The wait staff is friendly and always attentive to your needs. GREAT PLACE overall!
Don't know if I'd "DAI" for it.. My friends are always raving about this place, and I was slightly disappointed with the results. We had about three different waiters, and the prices were fairly high. The rolls were standard, but the sashimi was excellent. We had a "Cholersor-roll" - aka lots of fried fish, avocado, and mayonaise, which was obviously delicious but a little beyond the light sushi dinner I had imagined. Worth a try.
Next time I'll try the place down the street. It was packed so I gave it a try. A crowd never lies right? Wrong. Craptastic sushi and the waitresses were drunk(?) but nonetheless just a plain horrible night.Lots of rolls, but I don't think I'm going again to find out which ones are good.
eh....
This place is alright. Its very trendy I would have to say. This place is more catered towards the white folks. No offense, but take a real Japanese person here and they will not think very highly of it. I've got to admit, the atmosphere is pretty good. Its very lively and exciting. The owner is a very outgoing and nice man. This would be a place to go for a party. They got a large, LARGE menu. There are so many rolls that I dont even want to read half of it.
All in all, an average restaurant, fun atmosphere.
Oddly appealing. I've been to Dai probably 100+ times and have always had very good to terrific sushi... did experience a catastrophically bad service failure once, but we all have our bad hair days. Good for newbies and vegetarians, even.
Never Again. The food was terrible and the service horrendous. Never again.
Not recommended. Americanized rolls and the chefs are not real 'itamae-sans' or sushi chefs.
Truly to die for. Probably my favorite sushi place in the bay area yet. Fantastic, creative rolls, and great, high-energy ambiance. Get the Scuba roll - YUM!
