Editorial Review for Solano Cellars Wine Shop & Wine Bar – by Kirstin Jackson

In Short
This neighborhood wine shop and bar, a fixture for more than 30 years, is as celebrated for snob-free service as it is for its diverse offerings. Wine shop below, wine bar atop, Solano sells bottles, teaches classes and hosts highly popular tastings and winemaker events. Best of all, sipping before buying is encouraged; weekly rotating flights, light food, and a wine-inspired supper club more for happy people and sure purchases

What a great place. I live in the city and find there are few local places to just go and enjoy wine in this city. I like Solano Cellars because they have very tasty and reasonably priced wines behind the bar. I also like Solano Cellars because the wine bar is connected to the wine shop, so if I like something then I can easily buy it and pay retail (not restaurant) prices for the wine. Also, Solano Cellars operates a great botique wine shop. I have found some great stuff and the staff is in the know. What can I say, I am sold on the place and wish it were in my neighborhood! I only wish the wine bar served food 5 days a week, but what you gonna do.

Pros: Good Wine, Good Food, Reasonably Priced

Cons: Hours, Far away

I was amazed at the selection of hard to find wines and the help was extremely knowledgable. Their food menu was also very diverse and the preparation and service was excellent. The employees were nice and profeesional and I even learneda few thinga about some wine areas that I did not know. All and all a grand experience which proves that good things do come in small packages. I'll be back soon!

Pros: good food, knowledgable employee, great selection

Cons: not big enough, not enough on menu, owner is bit ofa snob
