Editorial Review for Citron – by Eve Kushner
The Scene
Floral bouquets, soft yellow walls, velvet curtains and black-and-white photos create an understated elegance. Although a restaurant this expensive could feel stuffy, Citron is unpretentious and mellow. Professionals and an older crowd patronize the place for its civilized atmosphere and reasonable acoustics. Service is gracious, but occasionally inattentive.
The Food
Chef Christopher Rossi's French-inspired menu features 11 new dishes every few weeks. The beautifully presented, moderately sized portions feature mild, well-matched flavors but often want for salt and pepper. Appetizers might include a perfectly tender duck confit, tasty lobster chunks in puff pastry or classic potato-leek soup. Typical entrees might include smoky, succulent rabbit with creamy polenta, juicy prime rib with potato gratin or an assortment of cannelloni.

very courteous, friendly, and somewhat attentive staff, but the food was pedestrian at best. lobster bisque was pitiful, my salmon overcooked/dry, the 'sauce' very watery, the baby potatoes nicely steamed, but neither integrated nor complemented the rest of the dish. the food selection was strange, and limited. was it the chef's night off? not recommending - highly overrated, but did find street parking within a block!
Pros: friendly, comfortable, including bathroom
Cons: distracting cordoned off side area, food lacked originality, flavor, was overcooked and dry

I had a wonderful experience at Citron. A few friends and I dropped in 10 minutes before they closed for Sunday brunch, which isn't the best way to start off a nice meal. But, our server was very welcoming, reassuring, and totally adorable. I had the falafel with a trio of salads... it was divine. I didn't sample the others' plates as I do not partake of meat, but they were all very impressed. The prices seemed very cheap for the quality of food and service we received. I highly recommend it.
Pros: Great server, great meal, great price, great neighborhood.
Cons: Nothing.
