User Reviews for Temple Beth Abraham

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

In one year, Rabbi Mark Bloom has engaged a 300-family congregation with his warmth, humor, wisdom, and sense of community. He's equally at ease singing with three year olds as he is comforting elderly seniors. Beth Abraham is a Conservative synagogue with a truly egalitarian philosophy. I am the Jewish partner of an interfaith couple. We have always felt welcome at Beth Abraham. Many of us who don't fit into the typical Conservative Jewish box -- gay and lesbian, interfaith, feminist, multiracial families, Jews by choice, etc., -- have found a home and a community there. Educational opportunities abound, from traditional Torah study to Jewish meditation. Special Shabbats (like the Rock & Roll Shabbat) are another special feature. Great Rabbi, great community -- anyone interested in Judaism, synagogue searching, looking for a vibrant community or a Shabbat service, should come visit. www.tbaoakland.org

Pros: Free Shabbat Daycare, Adult Ed. program, Great Social Events

Cons: difficult parking, handicap access tough
