A place that bills itself as French-Soul food better have some kickass beignets, and Brenda's does not disappoint. Try the beignet flight for a sampling of all four varieties: plain, chocolate (filled with molten Ghirardelli), green apple with honey butter and, for the savory crowd, crawfish.
A certain crowd pleaser, these little golden nuggets of fried dough come dusted in powdered sugar and served alongside a trio of dipping sauces: spiced chocolate, lemon curd and honey.
There's only one thing better than dessert at the end of a meal?and that's a boozy dessert. Served alongside RN74's bowl of sugar-coated doughnut holes is a pot of brandy caramel topped with nutmeg whipped cream. The sauce itself is drinkable, but the fried dough ain't bad, either.
A Peruvian spin on beignets, the Bunuelos de Chocolate Caliente at this gorgeous waterfront restaurant are filled with melted chocolate, given a light orange glaze and served with passion fruit and banana ice cream. The perfect summer indulgence.
